Why Remove Popcorn Ceiling?

There’s many reasons to have your popcorn ceiling removed and the these reasons go beyond simple aesthetic looks. Of course the look and of your ceilings is important but there’s also many other very critical reasons to get your ceiling up to date!

1. Unfortunately this is true. Prior to 1980 popcorn ceilings were actually formulated with the added ingredient of asbestos. If the popcorn finish on the top of your rooms were done sometime in the 70's then there is a very high chance that they contain asbestos. Be sure not to remove this on your own. The dangers around asbestos are extremely harmful. 
2. If nothing else popcorn ceilings look utterly old and uninviting. Having a fresh, flat surface on the ceilings of your rooms brings an incredibly new and appealing feel to the environment of these spaces.
3. We've all seen this before, try as we may to ignore the dangling piece of dust from your ceiling, it is still there. The textured finish at the top of your rooms are an ideal place for dust to collect, and what makes it even worse is how hard it is to clean that dust without causing little popcorn kettles to fall all over your floor!
4. Over time ceilings that have a textured finish will gradually discolor. This can be an extremely difficult eyesore to endure, no matter how clean and tidy you keep your rooms, the off colored ceilings will bring a dingy look to the space.
5. Having all these little bumps and lumps all across your ceilings actually brings a very negative effect to the lighting. Rather than having the light in the room reflect cleanly off of a flat surface, it is being staggered across the popcorn finish and causes odd shadows instead of clean lighting.
